Snow Storm

http://www.cnn.com/2013/02/10/us/weather/index.html?hpt=hp_inthenews
It has been a tough year for New England.  First, they were hit by a powerful hurricane that left a lot of damage.  Now, just a couple months later, the Northeast has been hit by a record breaking snow storm.  Certain places received as much as 40 inches of snow.  This has made it very difficult to travel.  Apparently, even the snow plows are having a tough time clearing the streets.  The large amounts of snow have caused many other issues as well.  As many as 90% of people are still without power and are staying in one of many shelters set up.  It is estimated that most people will be without power until this Thursday.  All this bad weather has closed down many schools.  Some schools will start classes again tomorrow, but many remain closed.

This week the weather is supposed to start improving, with temperatures as high as the 40s with rain.  Also good news,  many airports began functioning again as well as many Amtrak train stations.  While the Northeast is getting better every day, a new storm is expected in the Midwest.  As much as a foot of snow and winds as high as 50 mph are expected Sunday night.  Luckily,  Omaha isn't in the path of this new storm.

  1. It's interesting to note that the storm was so bad Massachusettes had to fine and give jail time to anyone attempting to drive during it. Also,"Luckily, Omaha isn't in the path of this new storm."??? Do you really not want snow that bad?

  2. I agree, New England has had a tough year. First, they had to suffer through yet another terrible season by the New York Jets, and their butt-fumbling quarterback, Mark Sanchez. Then, Tom Brady is unable to take his team to the Super Bowl in a loss to the Ravens in Foxborough.

All humor aside, New England has just had an awful year. First they took a crippling blow from the hurricane, and now they have 40 inches of snow. That is insane! 40 inches of snow. My brother thinks that that would be fun, but honestly, who in the world (other than Ryan) wants 40 inches of snow. This coupled with one of the most densely populated areas in America is a big problem. People can't get to work and are trapped in their homes, some without power, and even the snow plows are having trouble. I am glad I don't live in New England. I'm glad to hear that the weather is supposed to get better, but it will be a while before all the snow melts away, and people have their power restored. I hope that everyone can stay safe, and that a solution can be found soon.

  3. I agree Mark this storm looks terrible. I know with you being the golfer you are, as am I, we hate snow so I hope that we don't see this snow coming our way. That is the worst news. Hopefully some more continuous nice weather heads towards England so they can have a nice spring.
